On Thanksgiving night, November 27th, millions of viewers around the globe will join CNN in honoring 10 extraordinary people who are truly changing our world.
CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute will be hosted by CNN?s Anderson Cooper and will air from the famed Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
Last year, CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute was seen by more than 7 million people in the United States and countless millions more worldwide. This year, CNN will dedicate November 27th as a day to give thanks to those moved by vision and selflessness to exceptional achievement in the service of others. CNN Heroes will again be seen on CNN, CNN International, and CNN en Espanol, capturing the spirit of these amazing individuals through compelling documentary storytelling, poignant testimonials, and musical tributes.
Since launching its global search for CNN Heroes in 2007, the network has received more than 10,000 nominations of individuals from more than 90 countries. This fall, a distinguished Blue Ribbon Panel will select 10 honorees from 2008?s viewer-generated group of nominees. Each will receive a generous grant to help them continue their efforts. These unheralded heroes will have their stories told on stage by some of the most notable public figures of our time ? thereby bestowing worldwide recognition upon this diverse group of individuals who, with little or no fanfare, are driven to remarkable acts that enrich our world.
CNN Heroes represents a major international commitment from CNN to give something back to the many outstanding individuals who give of themselves day in and day out. By utilizing the full global reach of CNN and its on-air and online platforms to celebrate these remarkable honorees? accomplishments, we genuinely hope to inspire the next generation of heroes.
We all live in a time when we can really use all the heroes we can get. Not just another awards show, CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute represents a chance to roll out the global red carpet for those doing truly extraordinary things in our country and our world.
